My name is Ben Moore-Morris, I graduated from Writtle University College in 2005 with a BSc (hons) in Landscape Management. I have worked in the landscaping business in London for a number of years now. Everyday, I enjoy the gratification that comes from enriching the environmental patchwork of gardens and improving the lives of my customers by providing much needed greenery.
Maybe even more so, I hugely enjoy planting and caring for flora in the knowledge that each plant will provide a home and food for the animals and insects which also live in London amongst us.
I am also a professional musician (pianist-composer), and have composed a song especially for my book (Rainforests Forever - A New Home). I believe the song identifies with the ethos of the book, and embodies reality, sympathy and optimism in its lyrics and melody.
A little bit about my childhood
My two brothers (Tom and Luke) and I were born in Kingston London. A nice Victorian house in typical suburbia with a tiny garden.
From a very young age I have been fascinated by the natural world, with a strong bond and connection to trees, plants and animals.
My parents (Nick & Jenny) decided to move to the South of France when I was 7 years old. We moved into a beautiful old stone farmhouse which is surrounded by wild meadows. Beyond the prairies flows ‘the Vidourle’ a river full of life, from beavers to kingfishers. Beyond the river, the rising and falling hills of ‘the Cevennes’, which are covered in evergreen oak, wild orchids and a vast variety of wonderful shrubs and flowers.
We have many animals that live with us, cats and dogs, chickens, donkeys, goats and a tortoise!
As kids, we were always exploring our new natural surroundings, discovering magical creatures that lived around and amongst us.
I consider myself extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to grow up in such an enchanting environment. Clean air, endless discoveries and amazement, meeting new creature friends, learning how nature flows and more. This, I think is surely something that every child should have the opportunity to experience.
